3. NATIONAL MUSEUM of MANKIND

Also famous as the ‘Tribal Habitat Museum’, the ‘National Museum of Mankind’ was established in 1977. In 1993, this museum was renamed as Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya, at the instance of the Ex- Prime Minister, Late Mrs. Indira Gandhi. Spread over an area of 200 acres of land, close to the ‘Upper Lake’ amidst Shamla Hills in Bhopal, the museum is the only one of its kind in India and is world-famous to house an excellent collection of prehistoric rock shelters dating back to the early stone-age era that prevailed on the Indian subcontinent in bygone times. It is one of the top tourist attractions to visit in Bhopal.
 

4. VAN VIHAR

The Central Zoo Authority oversees the management of Van Vihar, a nature reserve and botanical habitat in Bhopal. It is near Bhopal’s Shyamla Hills, just next to the Upper Lake. It is a paradise for nature-lovers since the animals are maintained close to their environmental conditions.
 

5. BHIMBETKA

There are several rock shelters in Bhimbetka that show the oldest evidence of human existence in South Asia. 2003 was the year that it was designated a World Heritage Site. More than five hundred rock caves and shelters may be found at Bhimbetka, each of which has a significant number of artworks.


6. GOHAR MAHAL

Gohar Begum, the city’s first female ruler, is credited with building this stunning monument in 1820, located on the banks of Upper Lake. It is widely regarded as among the most attractive buildings in Bhopal. The palace was designed and constructed using a seamless blending of Hindu and Mughal architectural principles.
