HOLKAR FORT

As the name precisely suggests, this was the opulent palace of Rani Ahilyabai Holkar which the reason why it is also known as the Queen's fort. This fort was also the administrative headquarter of Rani Ahilyabai during her reign and currently it has been converted into a guesthouse, which is managed by the son of the last Maharaja of Indore, Prince Shivaji Rao Holkar.
 

EK MUKHI DATTA TEMPLE

Located close to Sahastradhara waterfall, Ek Mukhi Datta Temple is a temple dedicated to lord Datta. Dedicated to Lord Dattatreya, this temple is constructed on 30 acres of area. The temple has admirable architecture and fantastic history.


NARMADA GHAT

Situated at the foot of Ahilyabai fort, this place is a must-visit destination in the holy town of Maheshwar. Throughout the day a kaleidoscope of rural India can be seen here, in the pilgrims and holy men who sit here in silent meditation.


RAJWADA

A public courtyard-cum-hotel, Rajwada has a glass-cased statue of Ahilyabai. It also houses a Shiva temple with a golden lingam. This east-facing palace is simple in its design and portrays the austere lifestyle of Rani Ahilyabai Holkar.


AKHILESHWAR TEMPLE

Situated on the banks of river Narmada, this temple is dedicated to Lord Rama and has pictures of Maratha soldiers and elephants. It is also known as Ahilyabai's chhatri and is said to be built by her daughter, Krishnabai to honour the queen.


KASRAWAD

Kasrawad, located 17 km away from NH-3, is known along with Maheshwar for weaving colourful cotton saris, with designs distinct and attractive. Kasrawad is basically a shopping hub. Kasrawad is fast developing with markets rich in local crafts. Tourists, after visiting sites in Maheshwar can head towards Kasrawad for relaxing and enjoying the local culture of this small town.
