Places to visit in Gwalior:
 

1. GWALIOR FORT

Perched atop a rocky mountain in Madhya Pradesh, this phenomenal fortress was impenetrable during attacks. The fortress has witnessed many historical events and it is proudly stated as the “pearl amongst the fortresses in India."
 

2. PHOOL BAGH

The late Madho Rao Scindia built Phool Bagh, and it was inaugurated by the Prince of Wales in 1922. A museum and a residential palace; this site encompasses a gurudwara, a temple, a mosque, and the city zoo in its campus. The place is famous for well-maintained and beautiful gardens, where you can enjoy a picnic or spend time with family and loved ones.
 

3. JAI VILAS PALACE

Jai Vilas Palace is one of the most beautiful places to visit in Gwalior city. This grand palace is a symbol of opulence and culture of Madhya Pradesh. It was built by the Maharaja of Gwalior, Jayaji Rao Scindia, in order to have a grand welcome for King Edward VII, the then Prince of Wales. Today, also the royal descendants of Scindia family live here and there’s a museum inside the palace. There’s a strong reflection of the colonial period on the layout of the palace.
 

4. MAN MANDIR PALACE

Also located inside the fort, the lovely Man Mandir Palace was built between 1486 and 1516 by Man Singh Tomar. Though some part of the palace has disintegrated with time, there are still some sights to see which provide an insight into the royal lives of the Tomars.
 

5. GWALIOR ZOO

The zoo has been designated as a protected site; it stretches to eight hectares of land and is cared for by the Municipal Corporation of Gwalior due to the presence of rare kinds of wild animals there. The Prince of Wales officially opened the Phool Bagh about a century ago, and it is still well-kept and protected today, including the provision of nice, clean abodes for the animals. A mosque, gurudwara, prayer hall, and theosophical lodge are also located in the Phool Garden.
 

6. TELI KA MANDIR

The highest building in the fort is a Hindu temple that combines elements of South and North architectural traditions. Lord Vishu is the patron deity of this temple. Before the British captured this fort, this temple was used to refine oil, thus the name Teli Ka Mandir.
