1. SHANIWAR WADA

Standing tall in its full glory, Shaniwar Wada was once a stately mansion. Built as a dwelling for Peshwas, its foundation was laid by Bajirao I in year 1730 AD. Today it gives a chance to peak into its great past.
 

2. DAGDUSHETH HALWAI TEMPLE

A famous Ganesha temple in Pune is Shreemath Dagdusheth Halwai Temple which is a major attraction in Maharashtra. The temple is visited by thousands of pilgrims every year. The annual ten-day celebrations named Ganeshotsav is the main festival conducted at the temple when celebrities and ministers arrive to pay tribute to the Lord.

Vetal Tekdi is a hillock surrounding the city of Pune. People come here daily for running and jogging, hiking and birdwatching. It has a temple of Vetala on the hilltop from which the place derives its name. It’s home to a variety of plants and bird species, making it one of the best green places to visit in Pune Kothrud.
 

4. SINHAGAD FORT

Sinhagad Fort (Lion’s Fort) is on a hill among the Sahyadri Mountains. Much of this fort is in ruins, but it’s still attractive to adventure tourists, trekkers and photography enthusiasts. It’s known for its historical importance as well.

The fort is shrouded in greenery, and it suits well for a quick getaway. Trekking is the most popular adventure activity here. And the route has plenty of sights.
 

5. SHIVNERI FORT

At a distance of about 90 km from Pune, in Junnar, stands the magnificent Shivneri Fort atop a hill. The fort is famous for being the birthplace and training ground of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the founder of the Maratha Empire. It was built in 16th-century and had been known for its fortification. Today, it is a popular tourist and picnic destination.


6. PARVATI HILL

As the name suggests, Parvati Hill is a hillock from where you can have a panoramic view of the city. Considered to be one of the most romantic spots in the city, Parvati Hill is also home to the sacred Devdeveshwar Temple. There are 103 steps that lead to the top of the hill, where the temple stands in all its glory. Climbing up the steps with your partner can be a memorable experience in itself. If you love capturing your time together in your camera, you can get plenty of good shots during your visit to this lovely destination.
 

7. TALJAL HILLS

A lush green area in the heart of the city, Taljai Hills is ideal for those looking to spend some serene time amidst natural surroundings. It is a 2000 feet high hilltop that has been developed as a park and wildlife reserve. Taljai Hills has many trails suitable for walking, jogging, running, and trekking. Thanks to its rich biodiversity, the place attracts many migratory birds and is a delight for birdwatchers and ornithologists. The hilltop also has a temple dedicated to Goddess Taljai at the entrance, a pond, and a meditation area. The place looks lush green and beautiful during monsoon, making it the best time to visit the hills.
