1. THE GOLDEN TEMPLE

Golden Temple, also known as Sri Harmandir Sahib, is at the heart of Amritsar. One of the most popular gurudwaras in the country, is a place of great beauty and sublime peacefulness. To the south of the temple is a garden, and the tower of Baba Atal. The Central Sikh Museum is atop the Clock Tower. The Granth Sahib is kept in the Temple during the day and is kept in the Akal Takht or Eternal Throne in the night. The Beating Retreat Ceremony starts at 4:15 PM in winter and 5:15 PM in summer. It lasts for about 45 minutes.
