How to best spend 48 hours in Rishikesh

Rishikesh is the gateway to the Himalayas, famous for meditation and yoga.Rishikesh is a popular stop on India's spiritual traveler trail.

Day 1:

9:00 AM - Start your day by visiting Triveni Ghat. It is one of the most sacred bathing spots in Rishikesh and is located on the banks of the river Ganges.

10:30 AM - Next, head to Gita Bhawan, Rishikesh. It is a spiritual complex that offers accommodation to pilgrims and visitors. You can also attend the daily satsang and participate in various spiritual activities.

12:00 PM - After spending some time at Gita Bhawan, head to Ganga Beach for some relaxation and fun. You can take a dip in the holy river or enjoy some water sports like rafting and kayaking.

2:00 PM - Have lunch at one of the many restaurants near Ganga Beach. There are plenty of options available, ranging from local street food to international cuisine.

3:00 PM - After lunch, head to Neer Waterfall. It is a beautiful waterfall located about 5 km from Rishikesh. You can take a short trek to reach the waterfall and enjoy the scenic beauty.
 
5:00 PM - Return to Rishikesh and spend some time exploring the local markets and shops. You can buy souvenirs, handicrafts, and other items.

7:00 PM - Attend the evening aarti ceremony at Parmarth Niketan Ashram. It is a beautiful and spiritual experience that you should not miss.

8:00 PM - Have dinner at one of the many restaurants in Rishikesh. You can try some local delicacies like chole bhature, aloo puri, and lassi.

9:00 PM - End your day by relaxing and enjoying the peaceful atmosphere of Rishikesh.

Day 2:

8:00 AM - Start your day early and head towards Rajaji National Park. It is located around 18 km from Rishikesh and it takes around 30-40 minutes to reach there.

9:00 AM - Reach the park and start your safari tour. You can choose between jeep safari or elephant safari. The park is home to various animals like tigers, leopards, elephants, deer, and many more.

12:00 PM - After the safari tour, take a break and have lunch at one of the restaurants near the park. You can try some local delicacies like Garhwali thali, rajma chawal, and more.

1:00 PM - Visit the Chilla Dam which is located inside the park. It is a beautiful spot for photography and you can also enjoy boating here.

3:00 PM - Head back to Rishikesh and visit the Triveni Ghat. It is a famous ghat where people come to take a dip in the holy river Ganges. You can also witness the evening aarti ceremony here.

5:00 PM - Visit the Beatles Ashram which is also known as Maharishi Mahesh Yogi Ashram. It is a popular tourist spot and was once visited by the Beatles in the 1960s. 

7:00 PM - End your day with dinner at one of the restaurants in Rishikesh. You can try some delicious street food like chaat, momos, and more.
